Social fabric

Upcycled tubing used in maple syrup production and a large quantity of repurposed polypropylene rope were given me to create this installation in a forest. During one rainy afternoon, people living in the locality came to help me give form to these scrap-materials from the countryside, with the help of techniques borrowed from textile arts. Social fabric in a rural setting can be simultaneously tightknit or distant, solidary or ostracizing; I chose to base the project on the concepts of giving, collaboration and mutual help between fellow people.
