    Jean-Marie-Gauvreau Award for Excellence in the Arts and Crafts

I am pleased to announce that I am on the short list for the Jean-Marie-Gauvreau Prize. An exhibition featuring the works of the finalists for the 2026 Jean-Marie-Gauvreau and Jean-Cartier Prizes will be on display at MuMAQ through May 3.

Curated by José Niaison, four bodies of work have been brought together in this exposition, May 2nd to Julu 26th.

Ainsi... (Thus...)

Ainsi... (Thus) is composed of 3 groups of wall sculptures: Éprouvés (Afflicted), Endeuillés (Bereaved) and Résilients (Resilient). This narrative features the highs and lows of life, fortune and misfortune, through the presentation of the process of adaptation that leads to resiliency.

I use a hand tool, a metaphor for labour work and body, and give it both the role of victim and executioner to evoke discomfort and suffering, at a time where budgetary cuts and the digital revolution upset the daily lives of many.
