Hiver, Paysages-Vêtements (Winter Garment Landscapes)

The Winter installation is made up of 24 blankets made by various techniques used in the textile arts: fabric on a soluble base, sewing, knitting, assembling, felting, appliqué, etc. These techniques stemming from tradition are not used in the traditional sense. By combining these techniques, I have produced textures that suggest different material qualities of snow. The 24 blankets are matched with 24 hat sculptures developed according to the different techniques, materials of themes present in its corresponding blanket. This installation consists ofthread, string, rope, fabric and cloth; some were donated, others bought or were part of previous art projects.  Centre Materia in Quebec City was the theater of the performance  Hivernage et autres lenteurs, a collaborative work  with sound and voice designer  Tristan McKenzie and Jane O’Reilly.
